Simon Fairbourn's Homepage

Hello. Welcome to my somewhat ignored homepage. I'm going to do something all flashy and whizzy with it one day, I'm sure. Don't wait up though. Anyway, in the meantime the following lines point you at things you may find interesting.

I will trumpet Talis Kimberley's site Talis.net, which is one I maintain. There are lyrics to many of her remarkable songs. I know I'm biased, but I really think they are stunningly good. I started off on a musical diet of Mahler and Mozart. Talis has shown me that there is more to explore out there.

I am a member of the Far Isles Mediaeval Society, an organization that aims to study and recreate aspects of mediaeval life. I am currently the High Sheriff of the Principality of Camcairndryth, a very lofty title. Then I do go for lofty costume. I'll place piccies here one day, I imagine.

I enjoy making most forms of music. I play or sing almost anything from Symphonies to Rock and from Plainchant to Filk. I regularly sing with and conduct, the N'Early Music Consort, which covers most of those disciplines. Our first CD, Voices Going West, is available through Filklore.co.uk, who also stock Talis's album, Archetype Café and many other interesting things. I am singing with the Ellendune Entertainers. Sorry there's no site yet. I'm also playing with the Wessex Concert Orchestra, which is great fun.

One day I hope to have great tales of rock climbing and costuming here (maybe not at the same time), but that's for another day.

For a man with so many interests, I am surprisingly conventional in some ways. I work for the biggest Building Society in the world, the Nationwide in the Technology Infrastructure Division. I have a wife and two kids. I have moved some family piccies from here onto FlickR, just in case you had lost them.

I post occasional thoughts into my Livejournal, if you want my latest news and general ramblings on all sorts of things.
